Not long ago I showed Tite-Tie’s Marketing video from Australia…I liked it. I found it engaging and very informing. It gave a lot of content. It was not overly salesy.

Today I am showing you the American version. It is 1/3 the duration (this one is 1 minute long)…and much more salesy. This is the commercial they showed on ESPN and the Outdoor Channel…but it is what they use on their website as well (not a good idea – we don’t go out to watch commercials on the internet).

This is a 30 second waste of money. Whatever they paid…it was too much. I can’t believe someone thought this was a good idea to marketing themselves. 30-seconds of stock photos displayed of keys and locks…saying what every locksmith I know could also say. All the locksmiths I know provide 24-hour emergency service and they all work on the same locks and re-keying situations listed.

This 2 and a half minute video just feels so contrived, hokey, and lame. After a 1/2 minute of zooming around the office with an upbeat soundtrack, you hear priceless lines like “let’s sell some batteries”, “the incentives here are awesome”, “I love working here”, “we’re making a difference”, and “nobody gives you more power.” I got the distinct impression that was scripted…and therefore totally believable (the cup of sarcasm runs over). Then you get high-fives and struck poses. They are looking for college graduates interested in sales….I think this video has sent many of them running (away)…and we are only 1 minute into the video.

This 2 minute 47 second video could have been better. He starts off well, “Hi, I’m….” You get to meet the president of this company, but then he goes into the typical company hype you hear everywhere – we make marketing people’s job easier, we provide the perfect packaging for the needs, delivered on-time, exceeding quality standards, etc. I almost hear a Charlie Brown show-like, “Wa wa waaa wa waaa waaaaaa.”

This is a short, 1 minute video about the Sunset Grill…which is next to a golf course. This is too commercial for me…and not very personal or engaging at all. The title highlights weddings and events, and yet there is no mention of weddings or events throughout the video. No footage of what a wedding there looks like, the location, or anything.
