This is the worst restaurant marketing video I have ever seen. It really is a 3 minute tour of their website…that is it! The video was way too long and boring (not too mention much was too small and fuzzy to read). It could have been just their website…the page about winning the award…and the closing screen – 30 second long video at the most.
This video actually turned me off from the place. If I find a restaurant video, I want to see inside the restaurant. There wasn’t even still photos showing the place. I learned nothing about this restaurant other than they won an award. Actually, I feel ripped off for not getting anything more than a tour of their website. Do not make videos like this…it is better not to have one than this one.
This 2 minute 12 second video lets you meet the chef and owner…and hear a bit of his story. You hear about his dishes and his philosophy. I would say it is successful…the video has been viewed on YouTube over 56,000 times and has been rated 28 times with almost a 5-star rating. I’m sure this video has spread awareness of the restaurant…and like brought in new customers.

“Travelled over 3,000 miles for Dinner from England with my partner, its was worth every second of travel. From entering, to meeting Chef, the depth of flavours & textures, the excellent Service it was amazing, in relation to Europe top restaurants it is up there. Was also first trip to USA loved it, next day we hit a fab deli. We loved the diversity of the City, many memories as both our birthdays celebrated whilst there. Thanks to all.”
This 2 minute and 43 second video looks like they did it themselves. The sound is bad because they used the built in microphone on the video recorder. The lighting is often poor. The video is a rough at times because the camera is hand held as they are walking around…and too quickly. Between the shake and how fast the camera is moving, it is difficult to really see clearly.
Even with these technical issues; however, this video does a good job of showing the restaurant and food. I don’t live that far away from them…this video has me thinking about going there when I am in the area. That is the purpose of these kinds of videos…to show the restaurant’s atmosphere, food, and what makes them different. Ultimately, it is a good video if they get you to visit them because of the video. So I would say this video is a success.
This is a quick, 1 minute 13 second video about a mexican restaurant. It starts off very good…with a question – if you are looking for a unique and festive experience…. This speaks right to those looking for a unique and festive mexican restaurant. She soon speaks of one of their specialties…which is served in a lava rock bowl (how cool is that). So you soon look what makes them different and unique.
I think the sound track should have been a mexican song…similar to what they may play in the restaurant (if they do). But really this is a good video to market a restaurant. I am a fan of mexican…and the next time I am in the area (I have family there) I will be trying them out.
This is a short, 1 minute video about the Sunset Grill…which is next to a golf course. This is too commercial for me…and not very personal or engaging at all. The title highlights weddings and events, and yet there is no mention of weddings or events throughout the video. No footage of what a wedding there looks like, the location, or anything. That was the first 30 seconds. The second was just some general shots around the golf course…it is almost like they had another video and decided to make it a little longer by adding other footage to it.
This is a horrible video. Too many messages and no one message very clear. Video footage of empty dinning areas, empty golf course grounds, etc. It would have been nice to see some people enjoying themselves. Also, there is just a phone number. It is like they are saying this is what we do and here is a phone number. No call to action.
While restaurants and event areas can market themselves with online video…this is not the way to do it.
